It's always been a lot of work to make it as a songwriter and a performer. You have to work hard. You have to be accessible. You have to travel. And you always have to protect what's yours - and someone in the business always wants a piece of your pie for as little as they can pay for it.

It hasn't gotten easier in the 21st century. There are fewer venues, and they pay less than they used to. And it's easier than it ever was to take what someone else has created without their permission, call it your own, and make some money with it. Or just take it for yourself and not pay for it. The internet makes it easier for me to reach a fan base than ever, but it also makes it easier for theives to take creative works than ever.

But I've decided instead to work with 21st century rather than work against it. It so happens I believe in this new world of instant and complete access. But I also believe artists deserve to be compensated for their work, and I believe most people who enjoy their works agree. If you like my music and you listen to it, you can support me - and believe me, I won't turn you away!
